On December 18, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for academic cooperation and exchange was concluded between Kyoto University and Academia Sinica, a leading research institution in Taiwan.
Located in Taipei City, and under the direct control of Taiwan’s Office of the President, Academia Sinica comprises 31 laboratories and centers. It is recognized as a world leader in research, human capital development, and science promotion in fields spanning the natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences.
The signing ceremony for the MOU took place at Kyoto University. The university was represented by President Juichi Yamagiwa, Dr. Kayo Inaba, executive vice-president for gender equality, international affairs, and public relations and Dr Jun Suzuki, director of the Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS). The representatives from Academia Sinica consisted of Vice President Fu-Tong Liu and nine faculty members.
