On February 8, 2024, President Dereje Engida Woldemichael of Addis Ababa Science and Technology University, Vice-President Worash Getaneh Shibeshi of Addis Ababa University, and Vice-President Enyew Adgo of Bahir Dar University visited Kyoto University. They met with Prof. Kyoko Inagaki (executive vice-president for gender equality, international affairs, and external affairs), Prof. Kaoru Kitajima (deputy executive vice-president and director of the Kyoto University North American Center), Prof. Hideaki Yasuhara (Graduate School of Engineering), Prof. Ryokei Yoshimura (Disaster Prevention Research Institute), Associate Prof. Morie Kaneko (Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies), and Dr. Fumitaka Wakamatsu (Research Administrator) to discuss the further development of education and research collaboration.
In addition, a signing ceremony, attended President Nagahiro Minato, was held to renew the academic cooperation and exchange agreement between Addis Ababa University and Kyoto University. It is anticipated that the renewal of the agreement will promote further research collaboration between the two universities.
