Prof. Yasuyuki Kono (vice-president for international strategy) attended the Asian Universities Science and Technology Innovation Forum, which was held in Hong Kong on January 27, 2024. The forum, which was jointly hosted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and China Association for International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP) served as a meeting venue for university presidents from Japan, China and ASEAN countries.
In the morning, the Japan-ASEAN Universities Exchange Meeting was held to discuss science, technology, and innovation collaboration through human resources exchange and development by Japanese and ASEAN universities. In the afternoon, university presidents from Japan, China and ASEAN countries joined the Asian Universities Forum to present their universities’ initiatives for fostering and securing human resources and promoting innovation and development in Asia. A roundtable discussion was also held to discuss inter-university exchange, human resource development, and the creation of an environment for human resources to flourish in Asia.
It is anticipated that the forum will promote further cooperation between Japan, China and ASEAN countries, and broaden research exchange and personnel mobility between universities and research institutions in the region.
