The Australia-Japan Research and Collaboration Forum, which was hosted by Universities Australia (UA), and which brought together university presidents from Japan and Australia, was held in Australia on November 28, 2024. Prof. Tetsuo Sawaragi, executive vice-president for research ethics, integrity, code of conduct, and international affairs, attended on behalf of Kyoto University.
The forum comprised the following three sessions, each of which featured presentations on initiatives conducted by the participating universities:
・Enhancing research collaboration
・Supporting the energy transition
・Research integrity and security
Executive Vice-President Sawaragi participated in the session on “Enhancing research collaboration,” and delivered a presentation titled “Research Landscape and Opportunities to Collaborate in Australia and Japan: Perspectives from Kyoto University.”
It is hoped that the forum will further promote academic cooperation between Japan and Australia, facilitating diverse research and personnel exchanges between universities and research institutions.
