Objectives

The Kyoto University and National Taiwan University Symposium 2014 aims to build on the success of the inaugural joint symposium held in Taiwan on 19–20 December 2013. Based on the special relationship between the two institutions, the symposium brings together leading researchers with the aim of strengthening collaborative research activities and promoting the exchange of knowledge, skills, and ideas.

Through a stimulating series of lectures and workshops, the symposium will enable researchers to explore contemporary issues across a wide range of scientific fields. These activities form part of Kyoto University’s 2x by 2020 (Double by Twenty-Twenty) Initiative, which emphasizes a collaborative approach to research and education, with the wider goal of increasing global competitiveness.

The key objectives of the symposium are:
