開催概要
趣旨
本シンポジウムは、京都大学とボルドー大学が共同で開催する第2回目のシンポジウムであり、京都大学において開催されます。
京都大学は、世界に卓越した知の創造を行う大学として一層発展し、真のトップレベル大学としての地位を確立することを目標に、2013年6月に国際戦略「2x by 2020」を策定しました。その一環として、海外の大学との連携を深めるべく、全学的な国際シンポジウムを毎年開催しております。一方、フランス・ボルドーでは伝統ある３つの大学が志を一つに、世界を牽引する知の創生とそれを担う人材の育成を目指し、2014年1月に新たな総合大学として再生しました。
その直後となる2014年5月、京都大学とボルドー大学による第1回シンポジウムが、ボルドーにおいて開催され、多分野にわたる研究の交流が開始されました。ともに大きな変革を迎える日仏の大学が知を結集させ、両大学の伝統と最先端の知識を合わせた横断的な研究の芽が萌芽しつつあります。
第2回目となる本シンポジウムでは、両大学が共通の課題として掲げる下記の8つのテーマに沿って、最新の研究成果を共有することを目的としています。その成果は、日仏の学術連携をさらに発展させ、21世紀のグローバルリーダーシップを持続的に担う人材の輩出に貢献するものとして期待されます。

京都大学国際シンポジウム「The 2nd Kyoto-Bordeaux Symposium」を開催しました。（2015年5月22日・23日）
京都大学は、2日間にわたり「The 2nd Kyoto-Bordeaux Symposium」を本学吉田構内で開催しました。
本学は、世界に卓越した知の創造を行う大学として一層発展し、真のトップレベル大学としての地位を確立することを目標に、海外の大学との連携を深めるべく、全学的な国際シンポジウムを毎年開催しています。2014年5月にボルドーで開催された京都大学とボルドー大学との第1回シンポジウムの成功を受け、今回は両大学から総勢約120名が参加しました。そして、両大学が共通の課題としてあげる8研究分野において、さらなる深化と発展を目指し、最新の研究成果を発表しました。
1日目午前は国際科学イノベーション棟シンポジウムホールにて開会式と基調講演を行いました。山極壽一 総長およびManuel Tunon de Lara ボルドー大学長による開催の挨拶に始まり、大川晃平 文部科学省高等教育局企画官、Claire Thuaudet 在東京フランス大使館文化参事官、そしてPhilippe Codognet フランス国立科学研究センター(CNRS)東京支局長より挨拶をいただきました。また、両大学学長が大学間学生交流協定に調印しました。これによる学生交流の一層の活性化が期待されます。
続いて行われた基調講演では、本学からは山極総長が「Evolution of Human Sociality: What We Can Learn from Gorillas」と題し、人類の家族構成や社会性の進化について長年観察してきたゴリラとの比較を通じて講演し、Stephanie Debett ボルドー大学教授が脳小血管障害の発生要因について遺伝子学と脳神経学における最新の研究成果を発表しました。
1日目午後から2日目にかけては、都市政策から材料科学、医学画像にわたる8つの分野において国際科学イノベーション棟内の各会場に別れて分科会を行いました。それぞれの分科会では両大学からの研究者が発表を行い、今後の共同研究や学術交流に向けて活発な議論を繰り広げました。とりわけ、化学・医学分野における分科会では、国際共同ラボ設立に向けた準備や招聘講演の実施等、具体的な企画案が議論され、両大学におけるさらなる学術交流が期待されています。
2日目午後は、分科会としての仁和寺訪問とエクスカーションとしての月桂冠大倉酒造への訪問に別れ、仁和寺では歴史的な建築物や美術工芸品の鑑賞を、大倉酒造では伝統的な酒蔵の見学や日本酒の醸造過程などの講義を受けました。
閉会式では、稲葉カヨ 理事・副学長から今回の共催シンポジウムの成功と今後の共同研究の強化についての閉会の挨拶があり、和やかな雰囲気の中終了しました。
