EVP Kyoko Inagaki Attends RENKEI Steering Committee Meeting (January 27, 2021)

The 2020 Steering Committee Meeting of the Japan-UK Research and Education Network for Knowledge Economy Initiatives (RENKEI) was held belatedly online on January 27, 2021. The meeting was attended by 40 participants from RENKEI’s 12 member institutions in Japan and the UK and the British Council. The participants from Kyoto University comprised Prof. Kyoko Inagaki, executive vice-president for gender equality, international affairs, public relations, and external affairs, Prof. Yasuto Tachikawa of the Graduate School of Engineering, and staff members from the International Affairs Division.

The meeting opened with an address by Director Matthew Knowles of the British Council. The British Council then provided a report of the RENKEI Climate Change Workshop, the preparations for the RENKEI Health Workshop, and the network’s financial report for 2019–20. The Climate Change Workshop, which was organized by Kyoto University, was highly evaluated by the attending researchers, including those for whom it was their first experience of a RENKEI activity. The meeting concluded with a discussion of the RENKEI activities scheduled for the coming year.
