An Extraordinary Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Japan-UK Research and Education Network for Knowledge Economy Initiatives (RENKEI) was held online on May 12, 2021. The meeting was attended by representatives of RENKEI’s 11 member institutions in Japan and the UK, as well as representatives from the British Council. Dr. Kyoko Inagaki, executive vice-president for gender equality, international affairs, public relations, and external affairs participated on behalf of Kyoto University.
In addition to a confirmation of the new RENKEI member universities, the meeting included a report of the 2020 budget by the British Council and an overview of the Turing Scheme project. At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed plans for the network’s activities in its priority areas of climate change and health.
