Director of Kyoto University ASEAN Center attends 12th ASEAN+3 Heads of International Relations Meeting (May 8–9, 2025)

The ASEAN+3 University Network (AUN)’s 12th ASEAN+3 Heads of International Relations Meeting was held at Bandung Institute of Technology in Bandung, Indonesia, on May 8–9. Prof. Eiji Nawata, director of the ASEAN Center, attended the meeting on behalf of Kyoto University.

The theme of the event, which was attended by approximately 60 people, was “Glorecal Connections: Driving Digital Transformation for a Sustainable Education Future in ASEAN+3 Countries.”

On the first day of the event, individual meetings were held by each participating university. The Kyoto University delegation met with counterparts from Chulalongkorn University, De La Salle University, and Kyung Hee University to discuss future collaboration and exchange. Those meetings were followed by greetings from Rector Tatacipta Dirgantara of Bandung Institute of Technology and Dr. Thanapan Laiprakobsup, secretary general of the AUN. Those addresses were followed by keynote speeches by Prof. Suhono Harso Supangkat and Assistant Prof. M. Sonny Abfertiawan of Bandung Institute of Technology. The participants then split into three groups to discuss the use of digital transformation for the sustainable future of education, discussing strategies and the strengthening of collaboration from global, local, and regional perspectives.

On the second day, the participants were provided with campus tours and laboratory visits to the Maker Innovation Space, Center for Arts, Design, and Language, and Drug Delivery System Research Institute ITB-Daewoong Foundation on Bandung Institute of Technology’s Ganesha Campus, and the GEM-ITB-CSU Joint Research Laboratory on the Jatinangor Campus.
