Executive Vice-President Kayo Inaba Attends the 1st Japanese-German University Vice-Presidents’ Conference of the HeKKSaGOn University Consortium (April 8, 2019)

HeKKSaGOn is a university network composed of six leading research universities from Japan and Germany. The HeKKSaGOn 1st Japanese-German University Vice-Presidents’ Conference was held at Heidelberg University on April 8, 2019. The delegation to the conference from Kyoto University consisted of Dr. Kayo Inaba, executive vice-president for gender equality, international affairs, and public relations, and four other staff members.

At the 6th HeKKSaGOn presidents’ conference at Osaka University in April 2018, the first six-year phase of HeKKSaGOn was brought to an end, and the member presidents initiated a revision of the network’s objectives, initiatives, and methods for the second phase. The next presidents’ conference, scheduled for September 2019, will serve as a kick-off meeting for the second phase, and the vice-presidents’ conference was held as a forum for preliminary discussions. The conference participants discussed the form that the presidents’ conference will take, the organization of the HeKKSaGOn research groups, and other matters. Based on the discussions, final decisions on these matters will be made at the 7th presidents’ conference.
