Delegation from the University of Vienna visits Kyoto University (November 8-9, 2023)

A delegation from the University of Vienna, headed by Prof. Manuela Baccarini (vice-rector for research and international affairs) visited Kyoto University on November 8, 2023.

The delegation met with President Nagahiro Minato, Prof. Kyoko Inagaki (executive vice-president for gender equality, international affairs, and external affairs), Prof. Yasuyuki Kono (vice-president for international strategy), and Prof. Mika Yokoyama (deputy executive vice-president and director of the European Center).

The meeting included reports on recent developments at the two universities, a discussion about the joint symposium that will be held at the University of Vienna in 2024, as well as plans for the further development of collaboration.

On the following day, the delegation met with Prof. Norihiro Tokitoh (executive vice-president for research and evaluation), Prof. Yasuyuki Kono (vice-president for international strategy), and Prof. Mika Yokoyama (deputy executive vice-president and director of the European Center).

The meeting participants shared information about the research strategies, research systems, and evaluation systems of both universities, and discussed research fields on which collaboration will focus in the future, as well as the further development of research exchange through the symposium to be held in 2024.

The visit to Kyoto University was Prof. Baccarini’s first since her appointment as vice-rector of the University of Vienna in October 2022. The strategic partnership aims to strengthen collaboration based on executive-level agreement, and it is hoped that Vice-Rector Baccarini’s visit will further strengthen the relationship between the two universities.
