Since May 2014 Kyoto University European Center’s office was located in Heidelberg University’ Student Prison. From mid-October 2025 it will be continue its work at a new location at Heidelberg.
The new office is located on the top floor (Japanese 3rd floor | German 4th floor) of the building in front of the Heiliggeistkirche. An independent meeting space is adjacent to the office. University personnel affiliated to Kyoto University may also use the spacious seminar room on the same floor.
Please make use of these facilities during your business trips to Heidelberg.

From Heidelberg Central Station to Kyoto University European Center
Public Transport
Route A
- Heidelberg Main Station: Bus No. 35 (Platform Steig C → “Neckargemünd, Bildungzentrum”, approx. 20 mins)
- Get off at the destination which is announced as “Alte Brücke” (Old Bridge)
- Climb the stairs right next to at the bus stop “Alte Brücke” and head towards the bridge.
- Turn into the first street on the right (Haspelgasse) and head towards Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Spirit)
- The entrance to Kyoto University European Center is on the opposite side of the church portal
Route B
- Heidelberg Main Station: Bus No. 20 (Platform Steig C → “Heidelberg, S-Bf. Altstadt”, approx. 20 mins)
- The destination is announced as “Rathaus/Bergbahn” (Old Bridge)
- From bus stop “Rathaus/Bergbahn” go through one of the alleys leading away from the hill to the square. The Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Spirit) will be on your left.
- Walk to the front/clock tower of Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Spirit)
- The entrance to Kyoto University European Center is on the opposite side of the church portal
