Abstract
What is the self? Although the answer seems to be evident, we don’t exactly know when giving it a second thought. One phenomenon that rises from the destruction of this certainty is the Doppelgänger.
Doppelgänger is a phenomenon whereby the self looks at itself from the “outside”. On the one hand, it is as a symptom for grave mental disorders like schizophrenia. On the other, healthy people in state of exhaustion also experience it. Last but no least we meet this “self” daily when looking into the mirror.
If this “other self” is the “real self”, who am I then? How can the “self”, which is moved by this question, find the “real” self?
Together with the audience, this lecture aims to answer the question of what the “self” is.
