Season’s Greetings 2025 is now published.

The past year, 2025, has brought some changes, while we also continued to work towards fostering early career researchers, strengthening Kyoto University’s networks and building new partnerships with academic institutions in Europe.

We hosted medical and pharmacy students from Kyoto for a study tour in Germany, continued the support of young researchers through programs like the DAAD early career researchers matching fund and facilitating events like the L-INSIGHT Fellow Workshop.

The Osaka-Kansai Expo fostered collaboration, with co-hosted events and joint activities with Kyoto University partners from Europe. We also contributed to major academic events, including the 2nd EHESS × Heidelberg × Kyoto Trilateral Seminar on aging and the 10th HeKKSaGOn Presidents’ Meeting. This year also also celebrated the 25th Nichi-Doku Joint Lecture, co-organized with Heidelberg University Offices Kyoto.

Engagement with Nordic countries grew significantly as well: Kyoto University celebrated the awarding of two of its members with a Abel Prize in mathematics and a Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Over the year 2025, there were several visits to Scandinavian universities such as the Oslo University, Karolinska Institute, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology.

Finally, our office relocated in Heidelberg to a new space overlooking Heidelberg Castle.
