On 28th October 2023, Kyoto University (KU) and Hasanuddin University co-organized the “18th Southeast Asia Network Forum” under the theme of “Green Technology Enhancement in Managing Environmental Resources to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals” in Makassar, Indonesia.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa (Rector of Hasanuddin University) and Prof. Dr. Kyoko Inagaki (Executive Vice President for Gender Equality, International Affairs, and External Affairs of KU) gave opening remarks.
Prof. Dr. Yasuyuki Kono (Vice President for International Strategy of KU) introduced and gave a keynote lecture on promoting ASEAN-Japan academic exchange and its coordination. Prof. Mamoru Yamamoto (Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere (RISH), KU) introduced historical development research cooperation with Indonesian partner universities and research institutes. Thereafter, two KU alumni members, Assoc. Prof. Mohd Remy Rozainy from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and Dr. Nuki Agya Utama from ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE), share their insight on achieving SDGs, which were followed by other invited speakers. After that, alumnus from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Japan had a closed meeting to exchange information about KU’s recent activities.
