JANET Forum 2018(11/21-22・Lyon)

From November 21 to 22, the Kyoto University European Center participated in “JANET Forum 2018”. JANET (Japan Academic Northern Europe Network) was established in autumn 2015 to promote networks among Japanese universities, which have liaison offices in Europe. So far, 29 universities and institutions joined this network.

This year, more than 70 representatives from Japanese universities and institutions as well as about 100 visitors including participants from France joined this event organized by Tohoku University themed “Networking and Collaboration for the Future” at INSA Lyon (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon).

On the first day, various Japanese universities presented their research and educational activities and shared information about Funding Opportunity in France (Europe) and Japan, which offered us good references for our future activities.

The second day was filled with lectures on GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation in Europe) followed by workshops, in which the participants discussed opportunities for and challenges of Japanese university liaison centers in Europe.

The JANET Forum 2019 will be held in London.
