DNA for ECRs: “Expanding Your Reach: A Primer to Networking and Collaboration for Early Career Researchers” (On-site | 9–10 June 2023)


Are you tired of hearing that networking is essential for your career success? Don’t be!  Networking and Collaboration are powerful tools that can help you uncover exciting job opportunities, enable productive collaborations, and boost research impact.  But let’s face it, building relationships across different cultures and disciplines is not easy.  You might feel intimidated by a lack of guidance and interpersonal skills.  Where do you even begin, especially if you’re just starting out as an early career researcher?  That’s where this workshop comes in!  Join us for a 2-day interactive session to discover valuable insights into best practices for effective networking and collaboration, equipping you to thrive as a researcher, team leader, and valuable member of society.

The workshop will be held at Kyoto University for undergraduate to postgraduate students (maximum of 16 participants in total, up to 8 participants from Kyoto University, 4 slots reserved for female students).

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the fundamental principles of effective communication
    for establishing and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Capitalize on your strengths to develop a clear and confident message to engage various audiences,
  • Recognize common networking & collaboration challenges that might impede your career progress,
  • Practice newly acquired skill sand tools and receive instant feedback
    from both peers and the facilitator.

Eligibility etc.

  • Students at Kyoto University (BA, MA, PhD)
  • Participation in the full program is required.
  • 4 out of 8 slots are reserved for female students
