The Kyoto University European Center participated at an exchange student event organized by the Heidelberg University Japanese Study Department.
The event began with general explanations about exchange programs and conditions for application by Japanese Studies teaching staff. This was followed by reports from various students about their experience studying abroad in Japan.
The student talking about his stay at Kyoto University highlighted the appeal of Kyoto and spoke about lectures and his daily life. He was asked many question abou practical issues concerning his daily life and studies e.g. the necessity of having a JLPT grade 1 in order to join the lectures.
After the presentation, students could individually approach former exchange students and the Kyoto University European Center staff at counters set up by the Japanese Studies Department. A lot of students were interested in Kyoto University asking questions about the necessary language skills, scholarships, and housing. We met many students stating their questions skillfully in Japanese.
