17th Southeast Asia Network Forum @Bangkok, Thailand

On 11th February 2023, Kyoto University ASEAN Center, Kyoto Union Club (KUC), King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), and Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology co-organized “17th Southeast Asia Network Forum” under the theme of “Developing Asian Humanities and Technology for the Future” at Asia Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.

In the beginning, Prof.  Dr. Anchaleeporn W. Lothongkum, President of KUC, delivered an opening speech to welcome all the attendees. Prof. Dr. Yasuyuki Kono, (Vice President for International Strategy of Kyoto University) introduced the achievements of alumni members.  During the morning panel discussion for Social Science Panelist pointed out the situation in ASEAN and Japan’s lack of human resources for SMEs in Thailand, Food production and consumption in Japan,  sustainable forest management in Vietnam, and China’s soft power influences to Laos. 

In the afternoon, Prof. Dr. Fuyuki Ishikawa, Vice-President for Research Promotion and Director of Kyoto University Research Administration Center, joined the panel discussion. During the discussion, the panelist shared various topics such as land using planning (LUP) in Laos, theKyototo University’s exchange program called “AMGEN Scholars”, and Thai judiciary system for the chemical industry and international trades.

After that, alumnus from Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Japan had a closed meeting to share information about related activities.
