The official opening ceremony for JASTIP project, Japan and ASEAN Region’s will cooperate to strengthen research for sustainable development in the fields of bio-resource and biodiversity, energy – environment, and disaster prevention with Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. This launch ceremony was held at the resident of Japanese Ambassador in Bangkok.
Participating were delegates from Minister of Education , Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan, Thailand, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Japan, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Thailand, The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Indonesia, Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Malaysia, and more.
In this regards, Mr. Kazo Yodani, Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Mr. Hideo Fukushima, Chargés d’affaires ad interim, Embassy of Japan in Thailand, Assoc. Prof.Dr.Weerapong Pairsuwan, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Ms. Yoshiko Shirokizawa, Executive Director, Japan Science, and Technology Agency (JST) and Dr. Alexaner A. Lim, Head of Science and Technology Division, ASEAN Secretariat delivered the opening address and congratulatory speech to all participants
Therefrom, Prof. Kayo Inaba, the executive vice president, on behalf of Prof. Juichi Yamagiwa, President of Kyoto University, Dr. Thaweesak Koanantakool, president of NSTDA, Dr.Ir Iskandar Zulkarnain, Chairman of LIPI, and Dr. Durrishah Idrus on behalf of Prof.Datok Ir., Dr.Dr. Wahid Omar, Vice Chancellellor of UTM and the witnesses signed for the signing ceremony of Memorandum of cooperation (MOC).
Kyoto University was pleased to be one of the participants to develop and promote for the international research activities and sustainable development between Japan and ASEAN. This is the cooperative endeavor to push the acceleration of science and technology knowledge to enhance these benefit to the ASEAN community.
