H.E. Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar’s state counselor and foreign minister, visited Kyoto University to receive Honorary Doctorate from Kyoto University in appreciation of her contribution to freedom and democracy in Myanmar on November 3, 2016.
Professor. Juichi Yamagiwa, president of Kyoto University, delivered a welcome speech by commendations for her dedication in democracy for people in Myanmar. In this regards, executive vice-presidents and deans , as well as representatives of Japan’s foreign and education ministries and the Myanmarese government also attended this ceremony at Ku Inamori Center.
Moreover, within this visit, H.E. Aung San Suu Kyi took a question from 8 Kyoto University’s students with key issues about her life, career, her motivation for endeavor people in part of democracy, economic and education in Myanmar with relaxing atmosphere for her responding to the students.
In 1985 -1986, H.E. Aung San Suu Kyi studied at Kyoto University as a researcher.
